Let me start out by saying that I believe that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I’ve been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from going through a program. My family was unaware of the Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the correct choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Finding the root cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, when the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like numerous addicts I started out smoking pot and progressed from that point until I used to be doing my drug associated with preference daily at the expense of everything and everybody around me. I lost valuable time with my oldest daughter and many years of a meaningful relationship with our family. During your addiction you don’t genuinely have friends, you have your partying buddies and when an emergency pops up in your own life these are no where to be found. Real friends walk along with you through it all. My addiction included alcohol as well as drugs and that i drank almost everyday. As soon as I made the decision to stop the addiction cycle in my life, it became a stride at a time plus it was hard.
When I began emerging from my addictive lifestyle the things i present in its wake was a lot of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships with no real idea a few things i was going to do with the rest of my well being. I truly began a step at a time then one day at the same time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and through that grieving process occurs when I chose to enable God into help me. It took many years but healing came, direction for my well being came and my marriage flourished. I completed Senior High School, graduated from College and have started my own business, which now includes a business that allows me to work from your home via a blogging platform.
Addiction Recovery Is Possible. After the real cause for any addiction is identified and worked through in that case your main reason for the addiction has stopped being a factor. For a lot of who remain addicts in their lives this is due to they have got not identified their root cause, usually are not willing to get through their issues and permit healing to happen. Many wish to remain a victim of their circumstance, not realizing exactly what the future would hold for them when they would forget about their victim mentality. Creating a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is actually through that relationship that true healing occurred.
My desire for drugs and alcohol is totally gone. Through building a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and I discovered a feeling of purpose for my life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to become better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has developed into a business owner). My road to recovery may have taken a significantly different route whenever we had known concerning the programs available to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not just in the addicts but to there families too.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a treatment program for addiction recovery might have been an excellent help to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools that can be used throughout your life for many situations that you will face. Programs also provide you the chance to escape your familiar surroundings which aides inside your recovery process. After a long period of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge that is a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First as being a Development Director then as a Program Director. While this is an excellent program there were some additional steps i wanted to offer those seeking help, so my husband and I opened our personal recovery program and for a long time we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived with us for around a year and that we worked with them step by step, it had been probably the most rewarding experience I have had within my life.
We closed the program because we knew the time had come to go in a different direction with this lives, but our company is always contacting those trying to find help themselves or a relative trying to find help for just one they love. I am just getting ready to start doing a bit of volunteer make use of a program in our area. Trying to help addicts overcome their addiction is quite rewarding work and it is something which I will take part in throughout my well being in one method or another. If you or someone within your family is suffering from addiction, research recovery programs and you may find the appropriate fit for you. Allow yourselves to heal, allow yourself addiction recovery and also to lead a fulfilling life.
